I am pleased to reflect on my experience this semester in BA 411. I feel that it was a very successful class, which taught me a lot regarding how to function in a team and as an individual. Throughout the course, I have learned more in depth about the different components of the business world. Capsim has provided me with an opportunity to learn and experience professional management practice and implement the theories that we learnt during the taught course in a real and actual organization. I found the business simulation, fun, challenging and stimulating. Although initially it seemed quite unexciting with the whole concept of business simulation, but when the real simulation started, it actually got really interesting as it developed into a more competitive environment. Capsim is an excellent tool for me to practice real world business decision-making skills because everything happens in a risk-free simulated learning environments where my teammates and I can experiment different strategies without any real life repercussions. The simulation environment also provides the benefit of consistent, constant and immediate feedback. The best part of immediate feedback is that it leads to the immediate application of knowledge, which is a major component of effective adult learning. As a business person, I learn to understand the big picture of how business works. The business simulation game promotes teamwork and it is a competitive activity in which participants, within a structured set of guidelines, struggle with obstacles, make decisions and work together toward a common goal. We are challenged to solve problems on our own during the simulation, which requires some struggle, mental energy and some hands-on experience.
