How would you feel if you didn’t have enough water to use the restroom everyday, or if you couldn’t shower for over 6 months? Being that California has been in a gargantuan drought for the past 4 to 5 years, water has been in short supply in more places than not. Farmers claim that they should be allowed unlimited access to the state’s supply of groundwater, solely in view of money crops. Ironically, while farmers are making these claims there are people in these towns, traveling 3 to 6 hours to get a gallon of water to last their families a week. “Sometimes,” she says, nodding towards her youngest child, “when she needs to go, I just take her outside”(Source 2). Clearly this woman does not have enough water in her town for her daughter to use the restroom, do to this reason, she is forced to go outside. Living conditions such as these can be considered unhygienic and could possibly in the future lead to disease. Moreover, what happens if this young child has to use the restroom in the middle of the night, she’s not going to want to wander outside alone. Do the farmers just expect this woman to always be willing to take her daughter out at all hours of the day?
