Although it may be fun have you ever wondered that drinking alcohol could cause long term effects on development? Well it does, alcohol plays a big role in your development when you're binge drinking in the adolescent age. People may not realize it but it is true. I think people shall not drink under the age of 21 due to developmental issues. In fact adolescents drink less but more at one time than younger and older adults. Youth between twelve and twenty years of age drink as much as five beers in one sitting which is enough to be considered binge drinking. It is proven that children under the age of fourteen are more likely to develop a alcohol dependence than people that drink when they are twenty one or older. Nationally, surveys prove that alcohol is the drug of choice by the adolescence age. "More youth drink alcohol than smoke cigarettes or marijuana." Alcohol is involved in a large amount of homicides, accidents, and suicides among young people. Development can be changed by alcohol exposure at a young age. The first reason is because adolescents can develop a drinking habit and when they do they start drinking more then most adults and the result is binge drinking. My second reason is that alcohol abuse can cause accidents that are horrible and never want to see anyone go through especially when they are dying young. My third main point is that alcohol abuse at a young age can go ignored before and after it's detected but it's important to reach out for help. In the future I wish to change the idea of underage drinking and make it aware what alcohol can do to your body in the long
