Benefits of Music in People’s Lives For centuries, people have been looking for new ways to develop and/or improve certain skills in their lives. People have for numerous years searched for ways to make their lives easier and less stressful. They have sought out for ways to treat certain disabilities and illnesses. People have been trying to figure how to find ways to do these things, but what if the solution has been right in front of humankind this whole time. What if the answer to all these problems is music. Music has been suspected to bring numerous advantages in people’s lives. Plus, it can be an enormous asset in the education system. Music can have various benefits in our lives. One of these benefits is academic enhancement. …show more content…
People use music sometimes to calm themselves down, or they use it to distract themselves from all the chaos and stress in their lives. One study resulted in higher cortisol levels, which are substances that help manage stress, in people that listened to music before a stress test than with people who didn 't listen to music. Plus, the people who listened to music even showed the lack of cortisol decreasement during their stress tests (Thoma et al. 68-9). This study shows evidence on how music reduces stress, and proves that music is indeed a stress reliever. Similar to relieving stress, music can help with illnesses through a technique called music therapy. As you can see, music has a very positive effect in people 's lives. It promotes so many beneficial skills and development, and there are facts now about how music hones and develops these great achievements. Plus, music helps us with our mental stability and health; however, even with all these benefits there are still some schools who want to cut fine arts out of the school curriculum. There are some schools who still think music isn 't necessary for their students’
