Since the first day of class, we have been discussing what it means to be an educated person and what qualifies you to be one. There are so many answers to that question and everyone will have a different point of view about it. An educated person can be anyone who just graduated high school, a doctorate student, or even a college dropout; the possibilities are endless and there is not one straight forward definition of what an educated person is. Among all the articles we have discussed in class, there are a few that stood out to me in discussing ways that describe an educated person in my point of view. In Hook’s article, she discusses a multitude of ways to become engaged in your education and not just sit there and be rigidly taught it. She believes that professors, or any learning role model, should have you engaged in what you are being taught and really want to understand and progress your knowledge about the subject. It promotes will and desire within the students and encourages them to appreciate learning and the people that are teaching them. I believe that my points are key to becoming an education person; a person who is engaged in the world, open to accepting new thoughts and ideas, and is willing to learn from past and future experiences as well as educational opportunities. My views have gotten me to a point in my life, that I have realized what I need to do in order to achieve my end goal and be successful in life. Not everyone will agree with my views, but it does not matter. What matters is that I believe in them and I implement them in my every day life so I can consider myself to be an educated

I especially want to remember the acronym START. From what I saw in my observations, these characteristics are an effective way to teach students because they allow students to learn in different ways but still obtain the same knowledge. I watched many teachers use a rigorous curriculum and student-centered classroom. However, I want to successfully incorporate all of the characteristics in my future classroom. I want my students to have some control over how they learn by being actively involved in my classroom.…

Ways I could apply coherence teaching in my classroom would be to offer a variety of different activities and allow the students to have time to reflect on their learning. I will individually read, study, and research information so I can present my lessons to my students in a way that is easiest for them to learn. I can share with my students that I read and study information to make sure I am knowledgeable about the newest information that is currently out there. I think that team meetings to plan lessons, problem solve, improve performance, and/or learn a new strategy is an integral part of being the best teacher I can be. It would allow me to see how my colleagues come up with ideas and we all could work together to find solutions.…

I am going to have to get control of my classroom, have my students follow my procedures by using positive reinforcement, and reflective learning of my pedagogy. The students in the classroom come from diverse cultures, so it is important that I am able to teach to every standard for every student. Obtaining control of my classroom will result into a good semester by having the students understand my expectations and theirs. My teaching style will have the students motivated to learn and retain the information. I have to have interactive lesson plans that get the students out of their seats and have a hands on approach to what they are learning other than just drill and kill methods.…

Educational philosophies express how a teacher plans on relating curriculum to his/her students and how they will run their classroom and its environment. An educational philosophy is not only how a teacher plans on teaching his/her students in the classroom, but what he/she can teach them for the outside world. There are many different educational philosophies that target different aspects of performance from students. I, admire many of the educational philosophies, but focus mainly on two that I believe are more of my style and reflect how I hope to live out in my teaching career. One philosophy that I admire and agree with is existentialism.…

This was a formative assessment, which allowed me to adjust my pace if needed and check-in with study because I required a response from all of them. As an assessment for the lesson as a whole, the poster activity not only included a writing element, but contained a drawing element that allowed students to express themselves in a visual format as well as in a textual response. This will enable struggling readers to participate in a meaningful manner in the group work because they will not feel limited in their creativity with only using textual evidence of their comprehension. Furthermore, students were able to verbally express their understanding of the assignment by explaining about their inventions to their classroom peers. Also, the instructions provided clear guidelines and an evaluation rubric for this activity was provided on the activity sheet in order for the students to not only hear my instructions when I explained them, but they had it in writing as well (National Center for UDL,…

It 's only when the students recognize me that I will be able to communicate well with them. Having a lot of content about your subject is good, but still, appropriate communication skills should be in place for better understanding. By their very nature, people are very investigative. The goal of education should be to educate all students, and produce successful life-long learners; students who can contribute to society in a positive manner.
