Being A Successful Student

Applying to be apart of the NHS community is no easy task; it requires you to be a successful student and at that, a good person. In my case, being a successful student not only means doing well in all my classes but also having good relations with teachers and the people outside of school. As I grew up, I’ve noticed that I’ve had a lot of opportunities and benefits that most people do not. It troubles me how reality is so cruel, so grueling that it would cause a huge impact if a person makes even one mistake.
When I first enrolled into Maspeth High School, I had already made up my mind to work hard and to strive to be one of the top people in the class. In my middle school years, I did not have any motivation or realization of how much it

I wanted to do good, and so I first began with the library. I did what he wanted me to do for and in the library, this created a great relationship between us and is still continuing on. What’s more is that he’s also into tennis, which spurs the relationship to be stronger and to have conversations with each other without having to make it awkward. I expanded my views a little more in sophomore year and applied to a program called Young Governors. It’s essentially a group of teens that are hired (or volunteers) to address issues in the community. Sadly, I was too busy in the summer to participate in any events they had, but I had learned about all the projects they have done in the past. One of which is the creation of a garden in Elmhurst, and I watched a video of people explaining what the purpose was for and why they were doing it. It impacted me greatly because it looked like it was something fun and at the same time productive for both the earth and community. But what I have contributed to the community is the tutoring of kids at prep. I go to prep a lot and I’m normally asked by my teacher to help those in the next class with their homework or classwork. Teaching kids younger than me, is very fun and is a great learning experience for both sides. Apart from helping them with their work, I feel obligated and responsible to teach them how to be respectful to others and to be logical in making decisions. I want to educate them of reality and how it is when they grow older, because making decisions is very hard but in order to make them they first need to be well educated of things. If they make a wrong choice it can easily affect their life in a negative way. Knowing that kids nowadays can be easily influenced it’s better if people influence them in a POSITIVE way, and that’s how I have done it in the prep. I hope that when they grow older, they can do the

How can learning strategies help struggling students I think my topic is important because society should care about the future. Not only is my topic very effective for our youth but however it is also effective for our elders, these different learning strategies could really help them out with the struggle of them helping their children or even grandchildren trying to help them with their homework or at home projects. However coming up with different strategies could also be a big help for the students trying to actually learn in school but somehow are distracted or just don’t understand the material the teacher is providing. Growing up, I had trouble coming to a realization that one day I was going to have to contribute to the advancement of human society. I always believed that I could continue to live a life where I was dependent of every basic need from my parents and not have to worry about the problems they dealt with. However, the first day of high school changed all of this for me. The moment I walked into the high school on the first day of my freshman year the atmosphere that surrounded me was far different than the ones I had previously experienced. As usual, some students showed zero effort and had no ambitions academically but there were also students who were striving to make something of themselves and were becoming prepared for the next stage in life.…

The only thing that I never like from this class was that it was too overwhelming when it came to the assignments and forums put together. I think that the workload could have been much lighter because it took away so much time from other classes that we had.…

I have been taught that relationships with students and parents can really help children succeed in the classroom. My goal as a teacher is to be able to find a way to relate to every student that I have. This can only help the students and myself overall. In the second reading, I was able to identify the author’s purpose as well. The author’s purpose of this material was to show a meaningful role doing what he could to help protect and encourage his students.…

This gives me motivation to enjoy every class, since I know that it is another lesson that makes the lives of my students better. The next area that needs to be addressed for all aspiring teachers, is the ability to show compassion and firm control of the classroom. I always wonder if my desire to help my students will keep me from giving the firm speech that propelled me into the career path I have chosen. This is why I believe few people have the ability to be a successful mentor, especially in the high school age. Both of these aspects are needed to be an effective instructor in any environment, however, the greatest challenge between these two categories is the ability to continue my own education.…

There are many career fields that involve children, but I always like the thought of becoming a teacher for younger students. Children have bigger imagination than adults do. They always get fascinated about anything new that they’ve learned. An elementary school teacher is someone who instructs children from grades first to fourth. I want to become someone who will teach younger students things that they begin to learn at that age.…

Working with everyone at Woodland Acres Elementary has made me want to dedicate more time to students in diverse settings. I encourage others to think more positively about these students and their potential in life. I have tried to educate myself more on the challenges they face and have spoken with other teachers in more privileged settings about these students and their dedication to education.…

I also want them to learn about love, kindness, honesty, patience, and cooperation so they can develop higher skills such as working in a team or self- motivation. Teaching isn’t just a daily routine of learning about specific topics but creating a relationship so they know that you’re there for them and so they know they are on a path of discoveries about themselves through their education. Being an early childhood educator means one must challenge and guide in a direction that meets the needs of the students (Roles, 2008). Teachers should give up the notion that they know everything because we are day by day learning with the children and share in their experiences (Roles,…

It was a reoccurring theme that actually helped to make me think about all the problems and the issues that affects the lack of graduates now. Students sometimes do not understand that they hold their own future in their hands so they should be responsible for it. Liberal education gives students more options and freedom to make better choices to make it easier for students futures. The teachers are more influential and effective with their teaching when they are allowed to do what they believe is best for their students. Once you can learn and understand the problem you can help to fix it and I understand why Mrs. Basiletti decided to teach this way.…
