The life of a military significant other is one ever so admired. Many people think this is absolutely something that they’d love, to be in a relationship with a soldier; others, wouldn’t ever dream of it. Though, many look upon it as such a romantic life style. Well, news flash, it’s a royal pain in the ass. You can go days, weeks, sometimes even months without having the chance to speak to one another. So many that are in this lifestyle, though they may hate it, they love it. They all know that even though it may be rough for a while, it’ll be worth it in the end. They say that they want a relationship that’s “different”, that mill make people wish they had a relationship like theirs. Though, when they’re in a relationship they’re constantly fighting, arguing, or only allowing their relationship to be driven by sex. They take their beloved for granted and they really shouldn’t. Taking anyone, especially your significant other, for granted it one of the worst things that anyone could do to another person. Being a military partner, I’ve really seen this. When William and I are together we are nearly inseparable, and I love it. We spend so much time together whenever we get the chance to and when we do, it’s perfect, no matter what shenanigans we’re up to. Though, when he’s got to go back to base, he’s got to go and there is no changing that. Being with William since before his military career, before I started working a steady job and attending college has really put this into perspective. We’ve been together since before he ever even expected to live this lifestyle and, hopefully, we’ll be together until long after the end of it as well. Every second of it that I get the chance to talk to him, see him, know that he always has my back, I will never take for granted. People don’t realize that tomorrow is not promised for
