“When I see everyone rushing in one direction, I know it’s time to move the other way.” – Armand Hammer. This is a quote with which I agree. Being a follower is something that I avoid. I find that by being myself, I discover my true friends that are more like me. This quote, however, can be looked at in different ways and scenarios, such as the meaning of the quote, how the quote may affect you in a school setting, how the quote may affect you in a work setting, and how the quote may affect you in a home environment. Even though you may have read this quote and immediately known what it meant, I may have had a different take on it than you did.

Most parents teach their kids to be strong, independent, individuals. However, most of the things that young adults learn are from their sibling’s advice. There has been many situations where my parents will give me advice on something and I won’t take that advice until one of my siblings step up and give me the same advice. When siblings are leaders in your eyes, you want to grow up to be just like them. However, siblings can also be followers. When my older brother suggested doing an activity that I knew we weren’t supposed to be doing, I did it anyway. Not because I was a troublesome child, but because I wanted to be like him. Only children, although I am not one, may look up to their closest friends or in fact have to listen to their parent’s advice. Just like I look up to my siblings, they may lead or follow according to how their best friend acts or how their parents act. People may be leaders, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t become followers at some point in their life. Even I, the one that never follow people in school and work, follow my brothers when I probably
