From the beginning of time, teachers are who made this world where it is today. A world consisting of a life changing medical findings, astonishing technology advances, and a world where injustice is debated throughout countries until they are solved for the better. All of these findings would be non-existent if teachers had never shared their wisdom with others. From the times of when Jesus Christ had walked the lands to share the word and teach his followers the righteous, from when Greek philosophers took stage to share their discoveries of, at the time, a geocentric view of the world, to today, a world where thousands of teachers wake up early in the morning and spend hours sharing information about the powerhouse of the cell or how to …show more content…
Many think that if a person knows how to teach someone their ABC’s that they are well on their way. That is not true because each state has different qualifications for becoming a teacher and it varies between what type of teacher and subject. A bachelor’s degree is a necessity for a teaching certification. This degree shows that a person has passed the curriculum of teaching and education but should go further to a master’s degree. Carissa Summers, a seventh grade biology teacher, states in an interview that she wishes she would’ve gone further in education to receive her master’s degree. Having a master’s degree for teaching will help any teacher in the long run when added with experience. Summers states “I can’t go to the last column (Pay column) without my masters.”(Summers). There is no set boundaries or qualifications for teaching but the further someone goes in that field, the better they will be more prepared for work. Receiving bachelors degree will be four years of college and getting a masters will be an additional two …show more content…
Why would a teacher spend most of the day dealing with children and grading papers?. As a baker may spend hours in the kitchen swiftly measuring every ounce of sugar and rolling out dough all day, gritting through his teeth, and washing his hands every thirty minutes, a person may wonder why this baker spends hours on one cake. He does it for the final outcome. The look on his customers face when they see the marvelous tiered cake with delicate frosted edges and the unforgettable taste of the fluffy batter inside. A teacher will work hard on the students for the outcome of them being that marvelous cake in this case. The final outcome and “a-ha” moment is what teachers strive for. Riley Cook is a fourth grade teacher at Lakeridge Elementary and during an interview she describes the best part of her job. She says with a smile across her face, “You’re changing a life and you’re a role model.”(Cook). Teachers are a very important part of a child’s life for they spend hours, five days a week, with this teacher. Teachers are one of the most important roles in a society because they are the gateway to going further and they give children what they already have and widen the horizons for it. Cook states in the interview, “It’s your life, not saying it takes over your life, but it’s your service to the community.” Teachers and educators dedicate most of their life to students

Miller could never wield the power that comes with her job. Like the President she always has a big red button on her desk that could launch nuclear warfare onto each and every individual life within the school, but she doesn't. She is too kind to tell the world how she feels about students, but everybody knows that in order to stay at the very top of Mrs. Kathy Miller’s nice list you must shun the individuals who make her naughty list. This method of teaching should be rewarded because it gives students incentive to fall into line in order to have approval from their peers and every teacher in the state can learn from the incentivized peer pressure that gets Mrs. Miller high ACT scores, stellar AP scores, and the love of every faculty member from every school all across the state of Kentucky. With this great Bluegrass state ranking #47 in education and having terrible pension issues it is important to observe the greatest teacher in the state working her magic while simultaneously inducing the most efficient way of teaching.…

It was a camp for junior high school students and I got to teach them in groups and one on one with each student. I was in locum parentis for one week with each group of junior high school students.…

Teachers Are Underpaid In the United States, educators are valued for being more than just a teacher by society. Educators not only nurture and enrich student’s minds, but they are also preparing them for the future. They are the stepping stones to the student’s pathway of success. K-12 teachers around the country, with the exception of the East Coast (like Rhode Island), are often overworked, overwhelmed, and usually underpaid; this is due to the lack of funding, and because of the time and dedication that is required to succeed in their profession.…

Why do we need to learn this? Are we ever going to use this? Questions that have crossed the minds of everyone at some point or another. Most of the time teachers will react to this thought with an unclear answer or will divert the topic, but there are times when teachers say it is only being taught because it is required material that students will most likely never use the material again. Teachers teach the test because the American education system is set up to ensure students learn specific material.…

Teachers are among the most important people in society today. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow 's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today 's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly, however important teachers are in civilization, they are still drastically underappreciated, underrecognized and underpaid.…

Being a high school athlete is what has driven me to want to become a teacher coach. At the age of twelve, I lost the most important person in my life, the one who I looked up to as a role model that person was my father. After his death the world completely crashed down on me, putting me through a depression. Just as I was at my breaking point my friend encouraged that I try basketball. Coming from a small school where everyone eats and breathes basketball, I didn’t assume I could compete with the other kids or that they wouldn’t accept me considering I didn’t carry the skill.…

Cornerstone: An important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based on. This is the motivation of the metaphor “Teachers are the cornerstone of childhood development”. Teachers are with their students around eight hours a day, five days a week, and nine out of the twelve months of the year for twelve years. Wrap the mind around this substantial amount of time, and then reread this metaphor. Teachers are the ones who are with these kids for the majority of their adolescence development; they are the ones influencing, guiding, and paving the path for the children’s future.…

I have always been labeled as intelligent. It has been one of the most prominent labels I have had to grow up with and one of the most burdensome. In general, people view having “intelligence” as having an advantage over everyone else. However, they do not see the pressure and stress it places on an individual’s shoulders. Contrary to making things easy for me, my intelligence has made it harder for me to find something I am passionate about.…

Memories of our teachers are usually a stark binary— either good or bad. However, regardless of being either positive or negative recollections, these stories influence our self-image as children, shape us as learners, and stay with us into adulthood. Carl Jung offers insight into the memory of teachers, he says when "one looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings . . . warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.”…

What characteristics make a good teacher? This is a question that many people will hear more than once throughout their life. Some qualities that come to mind (for me) are: having the ability to prepare your students for future classes, having a friendly attitude toward your students, having the respect of the student community as a whole, having the ability to make great applications in many different fields inside and outside of class, having an inspirational aura, and having the ability to transform the lives of your students. After thinking about all of these qualities, I feel as if there was one teacher at my old high school that has all of these qualities plus more. Her name is Mrs. Kathleen Kunkle.…

A teacher is an element everyone has in their life, whether academic or not and whether they realize it or not. If I had a chance to build an ideal teacher, I would take it.
