Sometimes, being in charge was difficult because I would get angry at the girls if they didn’t listen or take the drills seriously during practice. I quickly realized that I would need to control my anger in order to create a positive experience for my team. Being the leader brought out some positive qualities, such as becoming more independent and encouraging. Whenever we lost a game I cheered up the girls, telling them that we played well, but had to work on more drills. Making it to the playoffs was the peak of the season. Knowing how hard we worked and how much I had pushed the girls to do their best was the reason we were there. Even though we lost that game, I knew we played our best and that the season was the best experience I have ever had.
Through lacrosse I have discovered many abilities I have, and without them I would be a completely different person. Becoming a leader and more independent has helped me when I step foot on the field and even through my everyday life. I hope to continue to grow and push myself even harder to take risks to make myself a better player and an even better
