Govenor Berkley was at a great fault. He had done many things that the public did not agree to. First, Berkley made corrupt deals with the richest people in town and abused his position. Then, Berkley made deals with Native Americans who weren't his priority. The citizens of Virginia were his main concern and he neglected them.

Once you got to Virginia, which was not at all easy because of hygiene problems on the boats, you would be sold as an indentured servant. Indentured servants are usually for tobacco labor but some became teachers or even cooks! Once you had finished your work and paid off your boat trip to America, you were given a small amount of land as a sort of "welcome" gift. Nathaniel Bacon wanted to archive more land for indentured servants, farmers, and all of Jamestown. Now with all the indentured servants being awarded land Jamestown ran out of land to give. So Bacon decided to find more land. The land he decided upon however, belonged to the Native Americans. Jamestown had a hate/love relationship with the Native Americans. The Native Americans were Berkley's priority so Jamestown did benefit trade-wise. But then it all collapsed after attacks on the frontier, made by Native Americans. Bacon gathered a small army and marched to attack the Native Americans. They, sadly, wiped out multiple tribes some of which were actually peaceful. Bacon also wanted control of Jamestown. So Bacon and his small army confronted the House Of Bugasses. When they were denied, they burned Jamestown to the ground. Then the government couldn't stand it and they have Bacon control.
The public had many different clashing opinions based off of this rebellion. They had to remember that the King and England forbade rebellions. They also had to take into account how Berkley was abusing his position. Next came the indentured servants and how they were treated. Did they deserve the land?
