Based on the novel, the author develops the idea of courage by doing what is right. In the first part of the novel, Jem, Dill and Scout sneak out in the middle of the night to look at Boo Radley in order to satisfy their curiosity about him. As the event progresses, Jem eventually gets stuck on the Radley Place fence while on their way back but manages to break free by taking his pants off. When Jem was told by Atticus to go get his pants back from Dill, he decides to get his pants back from the fence. Based on the novel, characters like the Finch family, Mrs. Dubose, Ms. Maudie and Boo Radley have truly shown courage in their own unique way. The Finches showed moral courage by doing what is right. Mrs. Dubose overcame her difficulty even though it was excruciatingly painful. Ms. Maudie and Boo Radley demonstrated courage by helping others in different ways.
