My interaction with an older adult was taken place at the Sun Terrance Facility in Sunnyside, WA. I wanted to do a nursing home or retirement home, close to where I live because I also do my hours for my practicum every weekday. So, because I have lived in Sunnyside my whole life, I use to live next to Sun Terrance and I took this opportunity to explore the facility a little better while doing my hours there. Me starting there at the facility was not easy. I cannot remember the exact dates, but I went in one day and talked to the clerk and asked her if I could do my hours for my university’s assignment and she said Yes, I will let Lupe (Life-Enhancing Director) know, she got my information and I said ok thanks. I waited for her to call back …show more content…
Life-enhancing activities for our senior living residents are offered every day, many of which are designed for groups in order to bring everyone together to share their lives in an active way. I have been a part of this portion because I volunteered with Lupe for my hours in the activities room. She has a big calendar hanged up in the hall for the residents to see and I think that is great to let them know what is going on that day. They have trips to like Dollar Tree, Walmart and restaurants. They have activities like movies and popcorn, bingo (nickel bingo), they do exercises, bible study and more. I have been there for some activities they have planned during my days attending Sun Terrance, I also got to help and make the Event calendar for December. I will attach some images to the file and show the activities they had in November and will have in December. I like the way they word the activities on the …show more content…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

Zero, zero is the number of push-ups I could do at the beginning of the year. It was really pathetic and I was really embarrassed that I couldn’t even do one. I went home and looked at what the average push-ups a 13 year old boy should be able to do, it was 13, a lot more than I could do obviously. Now I can do 13 without collapsing. That is why I feel I grew in upper body muscular endurance this year in Wellness & Fitness.…

When an employer or college is looking at an applicant’s resume, volunteering experience is a beneficial item to add, especially if it is a related field. I am called to a different group to volunteer with: the elderly. Each organization helps the elderly in different ways, but my favorite cause is that of Meals on Wheels.…
