A profession is an organization of professionals that functions at an expert level. The field of medicine is an example of a profession, because people that seek out doctors expect to receive top notch treatment performed by a specialist in that field with years of training and experience. You can’t just fall into a profession and become a subject matter expert. It entails years of training, understanding, and practice, because people’s lives depend on it. The Army is a profession, because of the vast knowledge and responsibilities our jobs entail. Many of us hold military occupational specialties (MOS) that Soldiers and their families rely on. As human resources sergeants, if we don’t process a form correctly, we have the potential of delaying someone’s pay, which can lead to serious financial …show more content…
I believe it’s essential to maintain a healthy culture and climate, because Soldiers will not perform well if their morale is down. When Soldiers serve under an organization that has a healthy climate, it instills in them all of the Army values, as opposed to Soldiers that serve under a toxic environment. The Army values are key in influencing the Army’s professional culture. I memorized the Army values in basic training and did not understand the importance until I was in the military for a few years. “Duty” means that Soldiers have a responsibility to be the best Soldiers they can be in every aspect of their profession. As human resources sergeants, we tend to forget that we are Soldiers first. We spend so much time in the office and when it’s time to take part in field exercises, many of us feel out of place or may not put in as much effort as we would performing our military occupational specialty. This is the wrong answer, because as professional’s in the Army, we must never forget that we are Soldier’s
