Essay On Arab American Culture

It is an interesting time to be going into the education field all across America. As more and more immigrants make their way into the United States the population begins to become more and more diverse. This can also be seen in the classrooms; classrooms are becoming more diverse than ever. It is an educator’s role to be able to accommodate and understand these multiple cultures in the classroom. This will force educators to gain a more in depth look at the cultures that are making up the classroom environment. It is important that these educators see the differences of these cultures and things that may be similar. An Arab American student will share some characteristics with Native American students, and will also have vast differences in their cultures. It is important that as a future educator you can understand all the cultures of your classroom.
The Arab American culture is one that highly encourages education in their youth. This culture however has some of the lowest literacy rates in the world. There is not a huge importance on education in this culture, the emphasis on education however is growing in this culture. They have high respect for elders that may lead to students not making eye contact with elder community members out of respect. These individuals also have a high appreciation for women figures in their cultural community.
