Aortic Dissection Treatments
I. The Search Story When I was little, my aunt had open heart surgery to repair an issue in her aorta. Ever since then I have been fascinated with the human heart, especially the aorta. This is called an aortic dissection. An aortic dissection is rare, but fatal. Over the course of reading I noticed how the author kept saying tear then dissection. It seems that a small tear isn’t really a dissection yet. There are two types of aortic dissections: Type A and Type B (Mayo Clinic Staff). It seems better to take care of your body than hurt it more with

The balloon is inflated using a fluid which diminishes the atheromatous plaques against the artery wall. The balloon is deflated and the fluid is drawn out [1].…

In American medical history the “practice of hands-on anatomical dissection” began to become wildly popular during the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century; however, it “was frowned upon in the new republic as immoral and irreligious and was impeded by state laws prohibiting it” (Halperin, pp. 490). From its limited practice and use in the medical field in America because of the regulations and moral implications it became a topic of controversy and a topic that was brought into light in literature that was written in the nineteenth century, as seen in Mark Twain’s novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The practices behind using the deceased to conduct the anatomical dissections and how doctors and medical students…

A traveler taps the side of the vehicle to board, pays, rides and then taps to jump off at a desired destination. For one particular man who sat with his face covered by a towel, that destination was the Diegue clinic in Port-au-Prince. All I knew from intake was that this patient was here for a foot issue. I noticed the adult sitting uncomfortably, a towel wrapping his foot, as his eyes scanned around the room.…

Having a twin brother and having slight resemblance to him was the major source of my self-consciousness and agony throughout elementary and middle school. I was unaware that I would change my mannerisms and activities that I loved so I emulate his life. My twin refused to watch star wars or even play with legos, so I blocked off all my love and excitement from those activities so we would follow the same paths. I secretly wished that we looked more like identical twins than fraternal. I hated how he was much taller than me and that he did not need to wear glasses.…
