Essay On Amber's Relationship With Thayer

Everyone values the person they are perceived as, and would do a lot just to make people view them the way they have decided what fits them into the norm of society.

Amber acts differently based upon who she’s with. Her actions and feelings depend on how strong her relationship is with others. Her relationship with Thayer is stronger than her relationship with others, but she values her social status with her friends more than her friendship with Thayer.

Amber’s relationships with others are different than they are with Thayer. Amber feels her relationship with Thayer is stronger than her relationship with her parents or her cheerleading friends. Her parents are very distant with her and don’t have much to do with her daily life. Her friends from cheerleading only make it seem like the world revolves around them and they don’t care about anything else but their own problems, whereas Thayer shows more emotion towards Amber. Amber spent a lot of time listening to Thayer

She focuses more on impressing her friends because she doesn’t have parents to impress. She feels the need to impress her friends and peers more because her parents are a huge part of her life that is missing and she feels the need to make up for it. Although, Amber doesn’t try to impress Thayer. She’s interested in what he has to say but she doesn’t ever tell him anything about her personal life. Amber is only invested into he relationship with Thayer when she feels like it. She doesn’t value the fact that Thayer is trusting her with everything and telling her everything that’s ever happened to him in his life. For example, when Thayer asked Amber if she wanted to go to the sand bar with him she said no because it would ruin his reputation; but it was her reputation she didn’t want to jeopardize. If she went to that party with him people would think differently of her and she cares more about that than she values her relationship with
