Army was notified as early as 1952 that Agent Orange contained a substance that was toxic to humans. In the same year a company called Monsanto Chemical Company informed the Army of their testing results, suggesting the Army to begin its own testing. Kennedy approved the use of Agent Orange in the Vietnam War, after the Army reported conditions and infections that Agent Orange would cause. However, the Army claimed that the health dangers from these chemical compounds were reduced with proper handling by professionals. This same year the President’s Science Advisory Committee reported to the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the possible health dangers from using these chemical
