As a current college student myself, I see the need for a better way to fund community college. Many of my peers, including myself, cannot afford to pay for college out of pocket. I, for one, qualified for the Pell Grant, but my mother (a single mother of four children) who wants to go back to school to become a chiropractor does not meet the requirements for the Pell Grant and can only receive loans that she will then have to pay back. I see everyday students having to leave class early to make it to their job on time, so they are able to pay off their tuition; I see students getting bad grades because, instead of being able to study, they were working all night to pay for their tuition.
