Before going back to college the person needs to aware of the advantages that online colleges offer such , better pricing, time flexibility, telecommuting, etc as there are advantages, there are also disadvantages such as limited instructor interaction , lack of social interaction with fellow students and the most important one mandatory self discipline. I personally chose online classes because of time flexibility. I must stress that people should go back to college as soon as they graduate from high school so they don’t lose the habit of studying every day like it has happened to many of us who decided to take a break after high school. While statistic shows that online students do as well academically as brick and mortar students do, the completion rates are way behind the main culprit for that is poor time management. Going back to college can be intimidating for some as it was for me, mainly because it 's been almost 5 years since I graduated high school and haven 't picked a textbook since. …show more content…
One of the major reasons why most online students fail or just give up on their online program is because they are not disciplined and don 't manage their time. Once I heard a fellow colleague that also was taking online classes at PENN FOSTER, said “is really easy to keep postponing you’re studying to do other activities such as play video games or other nonsense because you have no one pushing you to do it, and you just don 't try hard enough to study and understand the material an there for you fail and give up". I couldn’t agree more with that. That is why I say that you must be very disciplined and set up a simple study plan, just set aside an hour or so out of your day to grab your textbook and read a few pages, but the key is and I can 't stress this enough to be disciplined if not you’ll just be wasting your
