What nobody saw coming from this young scholar was an unspeakable act of murder. After his friend/girlfriend broke his heart and moved on with another man, his jealousy turned into anger and he took things into his own hands. Adnan committed the murder of Hae Min Lee because his time-line doesn't match up, the inconsistencies with his cell phone and he had reasonable motive to kill being that she was his ex-girlfriend. Adnan's time-line from the very start never lined up, but does this make him guilty or is he so innocent that he can not remember what happened on that ordinary day. So why would adnan claim that his casual acquaintance Jay had his phone and was out and about shopping?. That doesn’t seem to be something a kid like Adnan would do with his cell phone. Adnan's cell phone was picked up by numerous cell towers in the vicinity of where the crime was committed and Hae’s dead body was found. People claim that adnan couldn't have committed a crime like this, but he had motive to do so.
Adnan and Hae had been together for a good amount of time and adnan was still very in love with her when they broke up. Hae finds a new boyfriend very soon aftter the break-up and this drives Adnan crazy. This gives Syed very reasonable motive to commit such a heinous crime.

After 16 years in prison Mr. Syed filed for an appeal to a new trial because he and others who've read over this case, felt as if he was not granted a fair trial because of newfound evidence(cell phone records, Jay’s inconsistencies, Jay’s consistences, police recordings, letters, timelines, DNA,the pinged cell phone towers, and specific locations) and major errors and mistakes that were made in the case. There is no physical evidence that Adnan committed the murder, just assumptions and theories that led to his imprisonment. Jay, Adnan’s best friends boyfriend, tells the cops that Adnan had let him know that he was going to kill Hae. He also states that Adnan gives him his car and cellphone but who does this with someone you don't really know. There is no true evidence here. Jay even lets the cops know he helped bury Hae’s body.…

It’s a possibility that Jay is lying because he never really did all of those things with Adnan. Although the other side might argue that because Adnan Syed bought a phone a few days before the murder happened, that is not enough evidence to make him guilty, because there is also the state’s lack of evidence and the inconsistency in the testimony of the one witness. Due to the fact that the state has found slim evidence to prove that Adnan syed is guilty, they had no reason to charge him, making him innocent.…

The call logs did not match the states timeline nor Jay’s perspective on the timeline how he told the story. If the call logs did not match the timeline how was the police to get hard evidence like Hae’s Car. If they dont matter how can they say Adnan is guilty the timeline can prove his innocence because the incoming/outgoing calls on January 13th are nowhere close to the states timeline. Furthermore, how did Jay know where Hae’s car was and not Adnan.…

Not only that but the only person who claims to have seen him in that time frame “called one of the prosecutors in… the case…and undermined her own statement” proving his actual location was unknown at the time. It is unusual that Adnan would not remember anything about this crucial day because he received a phone call from the police. He says he does “remember that phone call and [he does] remember being high at the time” but continues to deny remembering anything else because the day was “normal”, but, receiving a phone call from the police does not seem very normal and most people would remember the events leading up to it. Another reason why Adnan is legally at fault is because he…

Now one would come to the conclusion that you would not forget the day that you killed someone, but not in Adnan’s case. He could not remember anything. There was one substantial detail that stood out to me about this day and it’s that Adnan got a call from Officer Adcock about Hae’s disappearance. Sarah Koenig asks Adnan, “would not the call from Officer Adcock make it not a normal day?” (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”).…

    Why Adnan Syed Is Innocent

The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…

Even with all of this in mind, the court sees him as the main suspect and is not dissuaded by his normal persona. They pin him as Hae Min Lee’s killer by using the jealous boyfriend stereotype. It is also bad for his case when there are phone records and accounts of him acting strange on the day of her murder. Jay seems to be the only one that has a story that is sound enough to have Adnan as the main suspect.…

You never trust a drug dealer even if you think he is telling the truth because he is involved in illegal activity all the time. As you can see, Jay is not a reliable resource and should not be trusted considering his illegal activities. In brief, Adnan Syed is not guilty because he has an alibi, no motivation for the murder, and the witnesses of the murder are not reliable. Many people have tried to prove Adnan guilty or innocent, but overall there is more proof of him being innocent than there is guilty. Adnan’s murder was either meticulously thought out or it was just a matter of bad luck for Adnan.…
