The holidays are fast approaching. In stores and on TV we are about to be inundated with visions of festive family get togethers, lovely gourmet meals and lots and lots of good cheer. And while the holidays can be a beautiful time to unwind, recharge and relax, for many of us, it can be overwhelming and downright exhausting. Especially for us artists. It can disrupt our rhythm and throw us into a minefield of career questions from well meaning family and old friends. Yikes! But, instead of giving you advice on how to best deal with good old Aunt Jean’s suggestion that you should “call up ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and tell them you should be on that show”, I’ve created an actor’s gratitude list to help you through this time of year and hopefully kick start your own sense of thankfulness. Film, Television, Theatre, Concerts, Museums, Parks - Art is all around us. We live in one of the most diverse and artistic cities in the world. And yes, from far away, L.A. proper kinda looks like a giant mini-mall but all you have to do is scratch the surface and you will be blown away by the massive amounts of beauty and art that is pulsing through this city! How insanely lucky are you that you live in such a place? People dream about living here. You do. Pick up an L.A. Weekly, get out there and live it up!
Your reps. They work for you even when you are not working. Every day they push for you and they have aligned their goals with yours. They are your cheerleaders, your marketing team, your voice, your negotiators and your advocates in this business. Remember, they are pursuing your goals WITH you for 10 percent of the revenue because they believe in you. Wherever you’re at in your career there is ALWAYS room to be grateful for your team. And if you are still building that team, be grateful for what you’ve already accomplished on your own. It’s just giving your future reps more to work
