With the discovery of insulin, Frederick Banting and accomplices started testing it on dogs with hope to find a treatment for diabetes. Penicillin wasn’t used until the 1940s where Howard Florey and Ernst Chain further developed it and it is later learned how to manufacture it in quantity. When scientists invented liquid-fueled rockets, they had no idea that the invention would lead to those rockets being used for planes and space flight. If it weren’t for Robert Goddard, we may have never been able to make jets and achieve space flight.
