The book Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, tells the story of two dream-seekers; Lennie and George. Lennie is a gentle giant who tends to break anything he touches. He suffers from mental illness and lacks the understanding of most adults. He loves soft and fuzzy things like rabbits, but this is usually the reason why he gets himself in trouble. His mental instability and physical features can be intimidating. Many people much rather hurt Lennie out of fear instead of trying to get to know him. His downfall is his own lack of understanding of his physical power and his kid like mind.

George and Lennie went to a farm and they were met with resistance from Curley, the Ranch Boss’s son. He always pick on Lennie because of his size. One day, Curley got into a fight with Lennie. George didn't want to see Lennie get beat up, so he told Lennie to defend himself. Lennie's first instinct was to hold onto Curley's hand and squeeze it. This resulted in Lennie breaking his hand. Curley was humilated and hoped that one day he’d have his revenge. This was an example of how Lennie's strength will lead to his downfall.

Another example of Lennie’s downfall was after he met Curley’s wife. One day, she left her home to visit Lennie, who was alone. Lennie asked Curley's wife if he could stroke her hair, because he liked feeling soft

The only person who took the time to love him was George. He knew that Lennie would never understand the consequences of his actions so he was forced to kill Lennie in order to save Lennie from himself and the team that was trying to torture and kill Lennie. I believe the title “Of Mice and Men” is making reference to Lennie as a mouse in the house of men. Although small, they are able to cause huge damage to a house. Lennie was the oversize mouse that people hated and feared. George was the man who was there to destroy the mouse before he could destroy the
