Essay Of First Impressions In Pride And Prejudice

The name of the novel Pride and Prejudice proceeds its original name, First Impressions, that in some cases may seem as a better-fitting title. Throughout the novel, the reader encounters several different relationships and affections that the people show to others. The story focuses on a mother, Mrs. Bennett, who wants her children to marry the most wealthy men possible, however, the girls do not want money; they want true love. Obviously, the true love does not just come to the Bennet sisters and their later spouses; it takes getting through a series of obstacles for them to reach tranquility in their love life. From all of these relationships though, two stick out especially that help the original title of the novel stand out. Those relationships involve Elizabeth Bennet with Mr. Darcy, and Elizabeth with George Wickham. Each have a first impression that later deems false, providing a sort of plot twist to the story. Throughout the novel, these two relationships help Jane Austen 's novel live up to its original name, First Impressions.
