Essay Homework Should Be Mandatory

Homework has been debated for a while now, so let's get one thing straight. Homework shouldn't be mandatory for students under college. In college, it's okay you'll be a clod to deny that, but with 12th grade down to kindergarten, that's a different story. "One of America's biggest educational fallacy is that more homework makes better students. In fact, if homework were a prescription drug, the FDA would long ago have demanded its recall." -Alternet.org As debaters from Debate.org says, kids have learnt enough. Homework isn't needed. Adults say that homework helps you learn, but there is not very much you learn from homework. There have been zero studies that have proven homework beneficial to students and it just makes kids hate school even more! It is just stressful for a kid to have in mind that they could've done something so easy at school. Weekend homework makes the problem even …show more content…
Homework brings something very abhorrent to students, parents, and even sometimes teachers. Stress. Do teachers like grading copious amounts of assignments? Certainly not. Do parents like being asked questions 24/7? Not, by any means. Do students like having limited free time? I would have second thoughts. As the article reads, it is unjustly to apprehend a student to endeavor three more hours when they've been at school for seven? Secondly, it actually reduces the time students could be spending with their family and friends. That is a necessity in a kids' life. Some people may say that homework can bring families together. I am here to tell you that that is a load of crap. Honestly, I don't ask for help that regularly. Even if I do, it doesn't bring the family together. It's just a rationalization for homework being valuable. So, why do teachers appoint homework? Why do they stress themselves, parents, and students out? Homework should just not be mandatory for

It should neither be fully abolished or given to students in preposterous amounts. Although some say that homework is something that does no good for students, it actually has many benefits to students such as it has students receive better grades, learn what responsibility is, and figuring out how to balance homework with free time. All of these skills are not something that will help them in school, but in the rest of their lives. With that in mind, homework is not something that should be banned or fully embraced. Homework should be something that is balanced and only used as a tool to help students gain proficiency in a subject, not as busy work.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

I believe kids should have no homework. I believe kids should have no homework because they already have 7hrs of school. I mean why should kids have homework ( kids brains are not fully developed ) when adults work the same hours as kids go to schools and and they come home exhausted and don't have to do anything. Another reason why kids should not have homework is kids need sun and exercise instead of being cooped up inside doing homework; If this does not happen kids could get really ill. Which leads us to our next point kids brains are still growing which means that by the time they get done with homework they will usually forget by the next day.…
