Essay For Medical School Admission

We are all born with an innate sense of curiosity that presents most clearly in childhood.Throughout my childhood I was easily occupied playing doctor and nursing my stuffed animals back to health- my dad always joked that it was practice for the real thing. I often spent my afternoons only half watching the medical dramas my mother always had on the tv. I only bothered to pay attention to the “good parts” which consisted mostly of the more graphic surgery scenes. While my mother would cringe when presented with the blood and gore I was drawn in, the concept of surgery intrigued me. I loved the idea of being able to enter a person's body and physically fix what was wrong from the inside.

I proudly declared that I would be entering a premedical program and hoped to attend medical school. He laughed out loud before collecting himself and replying, “My condolences, I’m a doctor.” I’m not one to be easily discouraged.
