The plot itself was very convincing, I would believe the two actors were truly in love as much as I would believe the feud between the families were true and real. The fight scenes were believable, brutal and well scripted and not at all what I had expected. The love scenes were passionate and heartfelt and from a parent’s viewpoint, a little mature for such a young teenagers. The ending is tragic and heart wrenching and after wiping tears from my eyes, the film, the story itself makes me think about my own influence upon my children.
The dialogue was of course classic Shakespeare, the actors spoke it fluently and beautifully without interruption. I also thought Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting played their roles magnificently!
