Essay Comparing The Diary Of Anne Frank And Daniel's Story

The Diary of Anne Frank and Daniel’s Story are two books that are set in World War II during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a genocide led by Hitler which targeted Jews, Gypsies, gay people, disabled people, Communists, Socialists, and others who did not meet Hitler’s standards of the perfect race. Anne Frank and Daniel share their stories of their families struggles through the Holocaust as Jews. Although they may both take place during the same time period there are many similarities and differences. Of the many similarities between these two books here are just a few. In both of the stories The Diary of Anne Frank and Daniel’s Story the setting is during World War II and the Holocaust. The Frank’s story takes place in Amsterdam, Netherlands where they live live for two years during the Holocaust. Daniel and his family live in Frankfurt, Germany when the the Holocaust begins. Such as The Diary of Anne Frank is a non-fiction story that is based on the real diary, Anne Frank wrote while in hiding during the Holocaust. Daniel’s Story is a historical fiction story about a boy taken into the Holocaust but Daniel and his family were not actually real and was written by an author named Carol Matas. Another difference is The Diary of Anne Frank is in the point of view of someone in hiding for two years. Daniel’s Story was in the point of view of someone deported to Lodz a ghetto and then a concentration camp. A third difference between the books is in the story The Diary of Anne Frank Anne did not survive after being taken to a camp, she died from typhus soon after arriving to the camp. Anne’s father was the only one who survived the Holocaust. Daniel did survive the Holocaust with his father although his mother and sister did not survive. Daniel married Rosa and they moved to Palestine
