Terrifying powers causing corruption spilling the blood of the innocent. This is what happens when too much power goes to one person. In the books Steelheart and The Final Empire written by Brandon Sanderson certain people have extraordinary powers and abilities that cause many tragedies and many blessings. In these books the antagonist’s are ruling the world and the hero’s are a small group that wants to end their reign of tyranny and give freedom to the people. These books are quite similar in the style of writing and the plot line of the books is virtually the same.

In both books the main character is a young adult who soon comes to trust their group. Shortly after they become comfortable with their group they become idealistic and can begin to see a future where tyrants do not rule over them. Both of the main characters are intense and are a great help to the final goal. They both are the ones to kill the tyrant by figuring out their secret. They are in the moment, if something happens that they did not plan they deviate from the original plan and do things their own way. They are very intelligent and have skills that greatly help them with what their jobs in the group. These are traits that the both of the main characters share. While there are many similarities in these two books there are a few differences.
The differences in these books is that while there are extraordinary abilities/powers involved, the big difference is who has them and who knows they have them. In The Final Empire almost everyone in their group has powers/abilities and they are aware of what each other can do.
