These last couple weeks in English we have been reading “Sir Gawain and The Green Knight” and “Beowulf”. These two poems who characters share similar characteristics but mostly hitting on the fact of being a epic hero. Beowulf is one of the most outstanding and courages characters because he stands up for his people. Similar to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight because the characters show the true example of honor and the code of chivalry. The characters in both poems area lot similar then most readers notice.

First, Beowulf and The Green Knight are very arrogant characters both felt as if nothing could stop them. Beowulf first time meeting the king he of how brave he was and how he has played many monsters before him. He wanted to fight a demand who had claws for hands with nothing but his hands he even says it in his quote on page 31 “ My hands alone shall fight for me”, Which shows how fearless, he is. Don’t get me wrong both Beowulf and The Green Knight are fearless. The Green Knight who fights with honor but yet rides into a kings dinner and refuses to get down off his horse on page 178 “They call me king Arthur get down from your …show more content…
They both show loyalty and that they will stand and fight for their king no matter what. Wiglaf is the main character that stands by Beowulf through everything. He stood by Beowulf when he was on the edge of dearth on page 44 “Wiglaf’s mind was made up; he raised his yellow shield and drew his sword ….Then he ran to his king crying encouragement” this quote just shows how loyal Wiglaf was to his king. He stood for his king in the toughest time but also, Sir Gawain stood up for his king when no one would. He wanted nothing but for his king to look at him as a true knight on page 180 “Now if you my worthy lord would command me to step from the dais and stand with you there” this quote shows how much Sir Gawain wanted to fight for his
