Texting while driving is pretty common but it's also very dangerous. Some say that researchers suggest that talking on the phone can be compared to a blood alcohol concentration at the legal limit. Also texting while driving is very dangerous as there has been a total of 32,885 fatalities in 2010 for texting and driving. In ‘Distracted driving’ written by David Hosansky he stated “[s]afety experts say that texting by motorists is far more dangerous even than talking on a cellphone. That is because drivers not only have the cognitive distraction of communicating with someone but also must take their hands off the wheel and their eyes off the road.” This shows that texting and driving are more dangerous than calling but even talking on a cell phone is still super dangerous because it distracts you from everything that's going on. Texting keeps a person’s hands off of the wheel and eyes off of the road so people can no longer focus on the road but instead focus on their cell phone. If anything happens to go in front of a person’s car while they are driving or they take the wrong turn it can cause a horrible accident. In an article,’Are Mobile Devices Harmful’, Susan Henneberg wrote “[h]e …show more content…
Talking on a cell phone is less distracting than texting while driving because the driver is not taking their eyes off of the road and not trying to write something down. They also think that in the case of emergencies cell phone use is okay. But cell phone use while driving, whether it be texting or talking on the phone is still very dangerous. Not only is texting dangerous but “[t]exting while driving is 6x more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk.” (texting) and also “1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving.” (texting) these statistic show just how dangerous texting and driving really is. Using phones while driving not only causes one out of every four accidents but it leads to 1,600,000 accidents every year and 330,000 of which cause injuries to the person or people in the car. This shows that using a cell phone while driving is extremely dangerous and that people letting cell phones distract them while they are driving can put not only their lives in danger but also the people driving around them in
