When I was 13, my father subscribes the internet to the house. Facebook was the first application I used through social media. It was the road across the world of internet and technology. Facebook was the free service that allows me to create an online page to connect with my friends, family abroad or make new friends with anyone anywhere. I was also able to share pictures, personal information, messages, videos, and join groups… I felt that I am a part of the online world. But, everything in the word has advantages and disadvantages. In the following paragraphs, I will be talking about the history of the Facebook page, the advantages and disadvantages of using this application, and some guide to stay safe on Facebook.

First, people spend so much time on it with less time for family time or face to face interaction with friends. Using Facebook for your need is fine but when you waste most of your valuable time then it’s not good. The biggest disadvantage of Facebook is its addiction which causes many problems by killing your precious time. It also brings bad effect on student’s results because badly Facebook addicted students don’t get good marks in their exam. Another negative aspect of Facebook is cyber bullying and the poisonous comments people write online that they probably wouldn’t say to someone’s face. Cyber bullying is an international problem that has a brutal impact even leading to suicide in some cases. Nearly half of the people who used Facebook have been bullied online. Girls are more likely to be bullied and this can influence their self-esteem. Third, there is a lack of privacy. Although it is possible for Facebook users to limit who can see their profile, many students, teenagers and people do not make use of the privacy settings in Facebook. Sharing too much information could be a problem. In fact, it has become an important part of people’s lives that you can learn their life story just by checking their page. Their friend’s likes and dislikes, relationship status, phone number, address everything which sounds dangerous. Then, it affects the mental health of many people especially teenagers like eyes problems, headache… because they stay hours and hours concentrating on the
