It depends on what one is doing online, when one pays attention or not it can result in boredom or not. It also depends on one’s own characteristics, so sad people were sad even before Facebook. However, Facebook seems to be an amplifier of the feelings of one, making people more envy and jealous, for instance. Hence, Facebook does not appear to society as trouble, but it is, definitely, a signal alert of how one’s life is going. Even though Facebook can allow people to connect and communicate with each other, I believe that it brings more bad than benefits.…

Third reason on why social networking sites, and apps can be a negative thing and harmful is when I was seventeen years old, I created my own social networking site and released it to my friends, within days it spread like an uncontrollable wildfire within one week more than half the school was using my social network, and within another week my entire high school and some of the other high school near by were using my social network daily, it was a very cool and amazing feeling, but unlike Mark Zuckerburg, and how he created it to connect the world, I created it because I was tired of how Facebook was being ruined by countless amount of ads for a bunch of ridiculous things that you would not care about knowing, but as having so many people use my social network I created may sound awesome and cool; it can also be a very negative thing, not for me specifically, but for some of the people that used my social network, in fact just as the giant social network icons such as, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat; my social network experienced the same exact thing, cyber bullying and at first I was able to monitor the activity of all cases related to cyber bullying; it started to become utterly impossible to control it and delete all content of cyber bullying. It did not matter what I did to control it or remove the bullying content; so what I decided to do was delete the users accounts after warning them to cool it with the severe bullying, after giving them three warnings, but they would just use a new user name so, I had to think…

One of the major problems of networking sites are that they can make people compare themselves to the people they see online. They might start to think less of their own lives. Users get to choose what part of themselves to display to the world on social media, and they may choose to show the fun and exciting part of their lives. This can cause people to become withdrawn and lonely. Teenagers also might become friends with individuals they don’t know very well or at all, and this presents the risk of teens being influenced by the wrong people. Even kids who are younger than teens are very much in danger from being affected by social media. Some potential problems posed by social media include “...cyber-bullying, sexting, and exposure to inappropriate content” (O’Keeffe, Clarke-Pearson). There is no limit to the things kids can see online. And there is no limit to what they can post. Social media shares a lot of sometimes private information, and that information can fall into the wrong hands. Most of all, social media provides an alternative to having face-to-face conversations. People can communicate with others without even leaving their homes. Human interaction plays an immense role in feelings of happiness and relaxation. It is vital to human health, both physically and mentally. Social media diminishes the need for actually talking to someone. Why…
