Located in the northern region of South America on the Caribbean Sea, Venezuela dates back to the fifteenth century when Columbus visited it in 1498. During this period in time the country was inhabited by the Arawakan people and others. Venezuala was colonized by Spain in the late 1520s and eventually became part of the viceroyalty of New Granada. Over a period of time, Venezuela won their independence in 1821 in federation with Columbia and Ecuador. This enabled them to break off and be recognize as its own country in 1830. The capital of Venezuela is Caracas and it also stands as the largest city in the country.
Venezuela makes up most of the northern coast of South America and averages out to a little over a third bigger that the state of Texas. Venezuela military consist of four branches which are the Army, the Navy, and their Air Force. The country of Venezuela insists on keeping its distance from international issues. For the most part, their military’s are governed with the task of securing its border and preventing illegal drug trafficking, providing aid in the event of any natural disaster and any other situations that poses a threat to their country.
