When transitioning to college many of us are worried of obstacles that could keep us from attaining a college education. Such obstacles are only temporary and always have a solution. Many students fret about these obstacles yet they should be focused on finding the personalized solution that works for them. When we encounter such problems we should be reminded that we are not alone and that there are countless resources available to help us solve our issues. The two obstacles that have hindered me the most in my transition to college are financial issues and a lack of knowledge or readiness for many classes. Due to a nationwide increase in the cost of tuition many students are left with substantial student loans resulting in a decrease in total attendance. Although many student are college ready many of them cannot attend college due to their financial situation. Although this barrier does exist there are many ways around it. Many students today are unaware of the large sum of money that they can be awarded through grants and scholarships. By transitioning in to college I feel unprepared in the math subject area. Throughout my public education career I have always been unprepared for math classes and have often received a C for my effort. This lack of preparedness for college level math courses has made me fear signing up for classes such as calculus. I feel that this barrier exist because the math courses that I have taken are not rigorous enough to make me feel like I need to study to pass. To combat this problem of procrastination and a lack of knowledge I will attend Lone Star tutoring for any subject that I feel I am struggling in.
