The American Dream is a dream, an achievement people want to win and have. As years passed, people realized the American Dream is just that, a dream nothing more. People worked hard hourless days and in the end they stay in the same position. But not all gave up on believing and tried to win their own dream and see if they could achieve it. And some did achieve, but others, they just did not have the luck or chance to achieve their American Dream. By demonstrated what he thought through Gatsby and Myrtle. Myrtle wanted to be in the rich class and have money and all that represented the rich. She tried climbing her way up by cheating with her husband and having an affair with Tom Buchanan. In the end, she did not get her dream to come true but instead ended up getting killed for messing with Tom. Gatsby was somewhat similar. He pretended to be filthy rich to get Daisy Buchanan. Instead he got killed by George Wilson, Myrtle’s husband, because he believed Gatsby was having an affair with his wife. Which was only because Tom feed George the lie so he could escape the huge problem himself. In the quote, “‘ Tom,’ I inquired, “What did you say to Wilson that afternoon?”... “What if I did tell him? That fellow had it coming to him. He threw dust into your eyes just like he did in Daisy’s, but he was a tough one. He ran over Myrtle like you’d run over a dog and never even stopped his car.’” Nick accused Tom of what he thought and suspected him telling George which caused Gatsby’s life, which Tom confirmed.
