Children enjoy games, love things they can touch and feel, and love anything that they can interact with. The use of technology in elementary schools will help children become better acclimated to learning outside of their homes. A study showed that if an assignment is computer-based, then children will learn a topic easier as opposed to learning the conventional way. (Lai) An interactive whiteboard has revolutionized the way that those lessons can be taught within the classroom. The Promethean ActivBoard works using a computer program specially designed for the board that allows it to behave just as a computer and regular whiteboard would. Using the ActivBoard, children can collaborate using the six touch and dry erase surface. (Promethean) The six touch surface allows for up to six students to work together on the board; the dry erase surface allows it to function as a traditional dry erase whiteboard. Everyone is taught at a young age that it is important that they work together; the ActivBoard helps to promote that. Almost any website accessed is going to have ads and other things to grab attention and distract from the task at hand. When they are younger, most children are exposed to technology as a way to play games and have fun; that can decrease the productivity that they have in school. Giving young children access to technology where they cannot be properly monitored can cause decreased productivity. A single teacher cannot keep track of what 30 students are doing at one time, even though she/he may have a teacher’s assistant; they may not be present all the time. Now when it comes to doing homework outside of school that requires the iPad, productivity is decreased even more. When children get home they are ready to play and relax, and the last thing that they are thinking about homework. When the time comes to do their homework, they are not going to want to do it. As soon as they get to that iPad, they are going to get distracted. If the students are going to be given iPads, they should be only used at school and be given paper homework to take home so that their productivity is not
