Essay About My Writing Process

I am shamefully embarrassed of my first essay in this class. I was not aware of how terrible I was at writing. Over half of my sentences in my first essay did not make sense and if they did they were not relevant to the topic. If I look past the grammatical errors of my essay, the content is still fairly accurate. I admitted that I did not brainstorm before I wrote. I Just started writing until I ran out of things to say. I also made a the point that I did not learn how to write an essay in highschool because none of my english classes felt it necessary. My goal in the beginning of the year was to “correctly format an essay” and “broaden my vocabulary.” For the most part, I feel like I have achieved this goal. My writing process has changed drastically since I wrote the first essay. I believe I have come up with a more effective and less time consuming process. My new strategy begins with making a list of all the points I want to include in my essay. Using these points, I form sentences which turn into paragraphs. Once I have finished all of these steps, I go through and see which parts of my essay need more detail. I start writing in the areas that need help and do not allow myself to stop until all the thoughts about that topic are out of my head and onto the paper. I am currently still a senior in high school, so this is the only class I am required to write essays in. I am very thankful I got to learn what process was most effective for me before I got multiple college classes in which I had to write multiple essays. I also believe that my process will help me get scholarships. Since my writing process has improved, my writing naturally has as well. I can now answer scholarship essays and sound professional. This makes it more likely for me to be the recipient of the scholarships because I will sound very mature and put together for my
