Essay About My Writing Experience

Throughout this last quarter, we have had the opportunity to write many different stories from the few prompts that we have gotten, and this is a good experience for us as young writers. I feel like I have learned a bit more than what I had previously known due to these prompts, but I also feel like I have become much more confident in my writing than how I have before because of the group readings that you have enabled us to do, and when you give us the chance to see what people really perceive and think about our writing, it’s a really liberating experience to read directly what people thought about your writing and have that direct feedback, to me, it invokes a real visceral feeling, to just hear what people thought of my writing is a genuinely great experience for anyone creatively and I thoroughly recommend it. …show more content…
I have found that I have two main problems when it comes to my writing, punctuality and relatability. Punctuality is a problem that is more of a discipline issue that I have to enforce much harder onto myself, I let two stories not be turned in, whether they be from absent mindedness or illness, I should have had a plan put well in place to get my writing turned in specifically on time, which is something that I plan to work on in the

My mind feels like a 1000 piece puzzle missing a piece. I can’t simply find the right words to say to start this paper. It is always like this when freewriting; the idea of freewriting in and of itself frightens me. Never able to put the words in my head onto paper in a way that it can be read eloquently by others. My hands start to cramp automatically at the idea of freewriting.…

My experiences with writing have been somewhat limited until I signed up for English 101. I have to admit that English was not my favorite subject in school. I never felt like I was any good at writing, and spelling is still not my strong suit. I always felt like I was better at math. My attitude towards writing was my biggest hindrance to my success.…

I have never really been a strong writer. I feel like my writing always gets the point across but if the subject is not something that I know a lot about or am passionate about, then the organization is bad and the content is a lot of fluff and nothing else. My writing is strong in the amount of information I put into it, but lacks nice vocabulary and transition words or phrases. My writing can be very informative like in a research paper, report, or essay. When I know the information I can put it in a paper in a way that the reader can understand it easily.…

This semester I have learned much about my own writing style and how it can be perfected. There’s many new techniques and little tweaks that have and will help me with my writing. My papers from the beginning of the year will prove that I have fixed many major and minor problems in my assignments and they will stick with me for as long as I am able to write. I have learned many things about my writing style that I had not noticed before this class. For instance, I realized how much I used the word “you” or “we” in my writing without even thinking about it.…

Every day, individuals learn new things in their lives. They learn a lot of things that they should be aware of. Two of the most important things that people have to learn are reading and writing. These two things are kind of easy to learn, but they become harder if a learner is not a native speaker. I studied English for 12 years in Kuwait, my country.…

My Writing Experience I had reading comprehension as a class when I was younger and I struggled immensely. I despised everything about reading and just wanted someone to explain everything to me. After I successfully passed reading, I began a writing class. Because reading and writing are similar, it wasn’t a shock when I found that class difficult as well.…

I can also recall watching “Wheel a Fortune” at night with my grandmother. This also helped to reinforce the concepts of reading and writing, which encouraged me to learn how to read and write. The high-dollar prizes given away to participants for solving puzzles were definitely a motivator. With that being said, my reading and writing skills have tremendously contributed to my life. I am now able to independently follow and read instructions in written form, think logically about the personal problem-solving process, and respond to varies forms of communication.…

I had always assumed that my talents in relation to writing had a relatively mediocre limit, a “glass ceiling” of sorts. All my early literary efforts resulted in collapse and a greater distaste for writing. For me, writing was like trying to catch sand slipping through my fingers: never attainable. I remember a much smaller version of myself sitting down with a freshly sharpened pencil, extra-wide lined paper, and leave engulfed in eraser shavings. The beginning of the story would always start off promising, but no longer than twenty minutes into writing, I would realize that my story had no conceivable ending and needed to be immediately shredded.…

Going back over my fifth grade notebooks has not once failed to make me laugh and cringe at my boy troubles and lists of cute boys in my class. I love words. I love reading them, writing them and interpreting them. Through all phases of life, I had a usual nature to try and write my feelings down and call it art, even if it were scribbles on a Post-It note. Same goes for the song stanzas I wrote in seventh grade that were really loosely based on a Taylor Swift song and are still relatable today.…

My History As A Writer Throughout my lifetime I have come to love and absolutely hate writing. The reasoning of the assignment or topic has a lot to do with my affinity and disgust. Although learning new things, like writing, was something that I loved doing in elementary school, that all changed when it was daily implemented. As an art form I recently come to love writing down my thoughts, ideas, opinions and stories.…

At the beginning of this English course, I was so nervous and scared that I would fail. I do not think I have ever been a good writer. It has always terrified me because I have difficulty putting my thoughts down on paper. This course has proven to be highly inspiring to me as well as frightening. It has really taught me more about the understanding of the writing process and structure, in which helped me to not focus so much on the actual writing parts.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…

If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…
