Essay About Moving Away

It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie, and she sounds upset.” As I came down stairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie. Thirty minutes later, however, Jackie’s silver Mustang convertible swung into our driveway, and Jackie was leaning on the horn before the car came to a full stop. Grabbing my coat from the couch, I walked out my front door with all the enthusiasm of a man going to stand before a firing squad.

Not too long after that my body started to feel like it was floating off the ground. I felt dizzy and weak. My hands started to sweat and my body felt like it was heating up. As hard as it was I only had one person to really share my thoughts and feelings to and that person was Jackie. I met Jackie last summer and I’m so thankful that I came across her at the Smith’s grocery store. Jackie was a five foot nine inches white girl with curly blonde hair and blue eyes. “Ha I was. But Joe my parents would never allow that,” my friend stated. Ding…ding…ding, it was the bell. It was time to head to class. As I walked into my class I looked around the room and noticed that everyone in there was having

I took my last glimpse at my old house. I turned around and looked out the back window and watched Jackie follow us behind. I could see her wiping the tears off of her face. She had the most innocent looking face as if the whole world was taken away from her. As the cab approached the exit the driver put on the right turn signal to head over to the airport, but Jackie put on her left turn signal to head home. Then our cab drove away and I saw Jackie in her Silver Mustang get small and small as we got farther away. The suddenly she pulled out and drove away. That would be the last time I would ever see her again for the rest of my

That beautiful Friday afternoon that roughly took place two years ago now seemed like a goal too farfetched to reach anymore. Memories of brighter times raced through Nick’s head while he pulled out of the tiny parking lot that was home to a few other cars. The calming click-click-click of his left turn signal began while he waited to merge into light traffic. Nick’s slow moving job at the hardware store was left in the distance as he traveled towards the local flower shop on Mary's Ave. Nick waited for what seemed like an eternity at a red light across from the shop, finally the traffic light turned to a welcoming green.…
