Minecraft: Game of the Year
Minecraft should be named top game of the year because of its server list, its capabilities when mining, and the challenges one faces when you try and conquer the game’s monsters and players. “Minecraft at heart is a building game where players construct their own world out of blocks, making anything from a forest to the Eiffel Tower, like a kind of digital Lego without an instruction book. In a world of shoot 'em up games with ever sharper graphics and more realistic gore, Minecraft stands out as a quirky outsider (McVeigh 2).” With Minecraft you can be playing with friends in servers with tens of thousands of people. Without knowing it you are learning something new.

It is the way you complete the main goal in Minecraft, defeating the Ender Dragon. There are many ways to mine some boring, some fun, and some explosive. When playing in a boring fashion, players do not take as many risks and they go slower than a sloth. Even though the fun way is more epic than the boring way it causes players to take up more risks and will usually end up getting everyone dropped straight into a pit of lava. The explosive way is used by making a long strip mine and placing tnt two to four blocks away from each other and lighting off one end or you can just place a bunch of TNT in a cave system.
There are hundreds maybe even thousands of challenges waiting when playing Minecraft from speed runs to longest distance riding a pig. Many of these challenges involve playing on servers or other people’s maps. Even though many of the challenges have additional goals, like defeating the ender dragon or fighting custom Npc's (Non-Playable Characters), there are many that make you explore the world on a pig or on a horse. There are many challenges “witch” one is for

Video gaming, what was once a niche hobby generally only enjoyed and played by people who were seen as geeks has had a radical popularity. In 2016, the games industry has managed to become worth billions of dollars, the games themselves have become more mature and have appealed to wider audiences and communities of millions of people have formed around specific games. My personal experience with gaming comes from my time playing World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role playing game where anyone can create a character and work alongside others to achieve goals like killing certain monsters. What makes World of Warcraft unique is that rather than playing through a story on your own, a large part of the game includes interaction…

She is a world-renowned designer of an alternate reality, she believes that “game designers are on a humanitarian mission — and her #1 goal in life is to see a game developer win a Nobel Peace Prize” (McGonigal pg.1). In the wake of this influx, educators face growing challenges as they teach a very “wired” and soon a very “wireless” generation of students using technology that is evolving every day. Deconstruct the fun in any good game, and it becomes clear that what makes it enjoyable is the built-in learning process. To progress in a game is to learn; when students are actively engaged with a game, the mind is experiencing the pleasure of grappling with and understanding new systems. This is true whether the game is considered “entertainment” or “serious” for example, an FAA-approved flight simulator. The implications of delivering game experiences for education and training are enormous and this is shown by, The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) which estimates 298 million games were sold in 2008.…
