Essay About Lacrosse Game

Spring 2016 was my first season playing lacrosse at Edison High School. I was truly excited to learn a new sport. From what I knew, lacrosse was basically soccer with sticks; throwing and catching a ball with a stick seemed a relatively straightforward concept. In the first practice, I wasn’t able to throw or catch a single ball. Whenever I threw the ball, it fell out of my stick and whenever I tried to catch the ball, it bounced off the side or flew past me. Dismayed at my performance, I decided to learn from the seasoned players. I watched them gracefully wield their sticks, nimbly dodge the defense, and skillfully shoot their shots; their performance inspired me to be just like them. To improve, I constantly practiced off the field. Over time, my skills improved dramatically and earned the opportunity to play in every game. As expected, we had some great games and some terrible games. Even though we lost the season, but lacrosse changed my life. I chose to play because as it was something new. As a matter of fact, I did not even know about lacrosse until the tenth grade. I did some research and found out that lacrosse was an underrepresented sport, hence its lack of popularity. Not many people decide to emerge from their comfort zone because they may be afraid of future situations. Instead, this uncertainty fuels my passion for learning; I always try to explore the possibilities, especially in lacrosse. When I watched experienced players, I studied their moves and used those tactics to improve my game. I even applied these in school. For example, in my mathematics class, I watched the teacher complete a problem and after I attempt a similar problem on my own, and then try to learn harder concepts to advance
