Known for many decades as the sexual inversion, homosexuality is a romantic attraction between members of the same sex. Despite that it was considered a taboo decades ago, homosexuality had acquired great power in society in recent years. Homosexual individuals are also known as lesbian (women who are attracted by other women) and gay (men who are attracted by other men) in a like manner, the term mentioned above gay, can also be use to refer to both homosexual males and females. For obvious reason like, humiliation, physical attacks, and low self-esteem, many of this individual hides their sexual preferences in public. A person could be influenced by other person’s behavior without realizing it. For example mannerism, ways other people dress, hairstyle, and others aspect. Likewise, studies have shown that if a person spends too much time surrounded by individuals of the same sex, chances are they could attract them. For instance, prior to colonization homosexuality was recognize early in life, so individual were asked by their parents to follow the gender of their choice, if the person accepted an opposite gender, he or she had to learn how to represent the chosen role. Therefore, I believe that individual’s behaviors are affected directly by the environment in which they are raised. Studies done by Michael Bailey and Richard Pillard said, “Environment is as important as it is heredity to become homosexual, on identical twins half of the cases of whom one is homosexual the other is homosexual as well.” National Review Inc. (36) that shows the importance of environment in being homosexual. What they mean is that the possibility of an individual sex preference is fifty percent due to the environment. They also argue that since identical twins have identical genes, in this case homosexuality is due to the environment. However, opponent sources argued that individuals not necessary become homosexual by …show more content…
Twins brother study showed that in 52% of the cases if one twin brother is gay the other was too. That is to say that genetic does plays an important role in homosexuality as it also does environmental. A lot have been said about the cause (s) of homosexuality, some people said it is biological, other said that homosexual individual are born like that, but as in any family, sibling look alike, or do not look alike at all. The same thing happens with homosexuality, a family can have a homosexual son and daughter, or have two different sex oriented child. People said that, female who has homosexual male family could have more offspring than those relatives of heterosexual men. Female with homosexual in the mother’s side tended to have more offspring than those on the father’s side. In another study sources said that, genetic influence on behavior appears to involve multiple genes rather than one or two major genes, and nongenetic sources of variance are at least as important as genetic factors. On the other hand, Dennis McFadden, University of Texas neuroscientist said, “Any human behavior is going to be the result of complex intermingling of genetic and environment. It would be astonishing if it were not true for homosexuality.” Gale group, (2015) He means that being homosexual will not change an individual development. For example, if a heterosexual individual enter puberty when he or she reach thirteen years old,
