After a long night of drinking, all you want to do is go home and sleep. Some drivers go home and wake up the next day in their own bed, others wake up in hospital beds, while others don’t wake up at all. Receiving a phone call at 4 am with the news that one of your loved ones was involved in an accident because they tried to drive home under the influence of alcohol is one of the worst news you could hear. My father, who at that time was drunk, refused to call anyone to take him home because he believed he could drive himself, but he never reached his destination. Drinking and driving is a major issue that can be lowered if more free transportation methods, solely to drive the impaired home, were created.

Because those people had someone to take them home, they were able to see another day. With the free transportation that can be offered, that number will rise. This past weekend an acquaintance of mine( Martinez) went out to have fun, sadly he had no ride and refused to drive home so he had to call everyone to see if anyone was available to give him a ride home. After 2 hours of calling he had become impatient and considered driving. Luckily he was finally taken home by one of his brother. If there was a free service available, he would have contacted them and have been home faster. This is one of the many cases where the intoxicated person had someone to call, but not everyone has that option.
Creating the free transportation business has more advantages then disadvantages, one being the assurance of getting people home safely. The more people that support this idea, the more chances it is likely to happen. More information of the great benefits this service will provide should be spread to everyone so they can come to the realization of how badly it is needed.
