Compare/Contrast Essay: The Change Of My Life

Compare/Contrast Essay Time is irresistible; whether we like it or dislike it, it may affect us. This question made me think about the changes which has taken place in my life during the past 5 years. 5 years is a good amount of time to make changes and grow into a mature young adult entering my 20s. Though I’m still the same person on the outside, I have realized that within the past years, I have noticed 3 main changes in education, relationships and most importantly self-confidence. Everybody changes within time, some for the good and some for the bad. I on the other hand changed for the best. About 5 years ago, I was a careless sophomore at Crestwood High School. I never cared about anything that involved school; homework, tests, …show more content…
Back in high school I used to care way too much about what other people thought of me, and as a result it got in the way of my self-esteem, and the way I acted in front of my judgmental peers. I had no confidence about myself at all. On the contrary, now my self-esteem is the highest it has ever been in years. My friendship circle is small. My acceptance to embarrassment is pretty unbelievable. People’s words and opinions don’t mean anything to me. I now see things in a different perspective, I’m very open minded, and currently just concentrating on my future and education. Like Abraham Maslow once said “if you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy throughout the rest of your life.” As you can see, I have made very good changes in life throughout the years. I have become an independent person, my education is my priority. In some cases such as my career experience and studies, I changed and made progress during the years I have confidence in myself like never before, and most importantly I don’t except crap from anyone anymore. People change for two reasons, its either minds have opened…or their hearts have been broken; and in my case it’s

For as long as I can remember my life has been different from the lives of my classmates, as from a young age, I had to learn how to be responsible, independent, reliable, and accepting of others. For my entire life my dad has worked two jobs to support my mom and me, since my mom can not work and the cost of her therapies and medications is immense. For as long as I can remember I have always been willing to help my parents, whether it was my dad needing help cooking or my mom needing help walking, I have always made a point to make myself available whenever they may need help. My reliability and responsibility has transferred over to my extracurricular activities, because I have been a Chapter FFA Officer for three years, including being President this year.…

After reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, I realized how our lives are both similar and completely different. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that someone who is fairly famous and someone who has no significance in this world can be alike in many ways. Having read this book a few years back, it was actually helpful to me. It may have been helpful in the most indirect way possible, but helpful nonetheless. The Glass Castle had a small part in helping me through my problems with depression and anxiety.…

In my English 111 class I was asked to write a comparison and contrast paper, and only one topic could come to mind. Comparing my normal high school (Northwest) to my school of choice (Roanoke Valley Early College). If you know someone who knows both schools very well, as myself, they will tell you that the two schools are like day and night. It’s so hard to believe that if I wouldn’t have gotten accepted to RVEC I would’ve been continuing at Northwest Halifax.…

Throughout the majority of my life, I was self-conscious and constantly worried about how I was perceived by others. As a child, I had always felt slightly out of place among my peers. I was just a little too quirky to fit into any of the groups at my school and I was too shy to force my way into one. I could not exactly understand what made me so different from my classmates and I desired more than anything to gain the self-confidence to express myself.…
