Does an alcoholic make a deliberate choice with each drink? Addiction is a serious problem that is overcoming the nation. Many people are unaware of their addictions because they lose track and end up not realizing that there small problem that can turn into a huge habit. Addiction is not a choice it is a disease because the brain likes to create habits for survival and users can end up in creating a habit that is very difficult to quit. Addicts are unaware of how the addiction process begins. It usually begins by creating a habit, which could potentially turn into a daily routine, and the process of addiction begins to step in. Helping addicts quit is a very dramatic time for the addict because they feel withdrawal and for many addicts this is something they wished they never experienced.
What is a disease? A disease is when an organ that obtains a physical, cellular defect meaning cells die and the infection starts too step in. You can see the same symptoms between all patients that have a defect in an organ and stage of illness are compared to addicts with defects in their brains, which can cause many factors in everyday lifestyles. The brain is designed to make sure that individuals will repeat behaviors in order to survive. If the brain is flooded by extreme amounts of dopamine, when the brain has to adjust to this imbalance by producing less of the chemical of dopamine. The user likes the experience what they are receiving and tend to create a habit and then later on turns into addiction. The health effects are a huge problem for addicts because they damage major organs and can cause cancer, which could end up by losing your life. Most young teens tend to smoke cigarettes because they feel apart of society and which makes them feel
