For this reason I have always had an admiration and appreciation of the people who dedicate their lives to shielding death from others, and holding that line off just a tiny bit longer. After exploring various medical professions, I stumbled upon the topic of anesthesiology. It seemed as though a light turned on. An anesthesiologist is the quintessential line between life and death for a patient during surgery. By being the one who administers the anesthetic, they make sure a patient stays comfortable, pain free, and safe. This means that also must monitor each patients vital signs and keeping them stable throughout the entire duration of the procedure. I had figured it out. Or so I thought. I found myself torn between being the person who helps save the lives of others and being the person who saves the life of the entire planet. I chose the major of exploratory studies because it will provide me with an opportunity to learn more in depth about what exactly I want to do for the rest of my life. It will also give me a more clear understanding of what it takes to be either an anesthesiologist or an environmental engineer, while also giving me a variety of various majors and career paths that I may be interested in. I have a sense of direction but Exploratory Studies is an excellent opportunity to narrow my choices
