Essay: A Career As A Surgical Pathologist

When I moved from Iraq to Jordan and finally to the United States, I was both nervous and excited. I had invested couples of years into medicine, general surgery and ophthalmology residency training, and had truly enjoyed parts of it, growing as a person, and a professional. But the slow, uncomfortable realization that my stability in life was not the right fit for me, combined with a rapidly growing of cultural instability and safety issue culminated in my decision to make the change. Now, I find the peace and stability in my life in a new field of Pathology training, in which I can strongly state with a mix of relief and satisfaction that I made the right choice. Now it's the time to make and plans my future, as a general pathologist who was trained and learned from varieties of sub-specialties and cases, to find a something he love to do and to be an excellent Pathologist.

I want to exposure to diverse patient populations and cases to expand my existing knowledge to achieve excellence. I am more confident that a fellowship at the prestigious XXXXX, Surgical Pathology department would provide me with a tremendous opportunity to pursue my interests, help me to achieve my dreams and refine my skills as a diagnostic surgical pathologist. In return, I hope to bring to the program my strong work ethic, a passion to learn, and a diverse work experience.
