An experience that has developed my leadership skills was when I was the President of Interact from October 2014 until September 2015. I have been an active member of Interact since 2011, when I was in Grade 8. In my role as President of Interact, I have developed my leadership, communication and management skills. Our international projects include sponsoring two Karen children, packing a record of 146 shoeboxes to be sent to PNG last Christmas, held a World Vision week, supported clean water projects in Africa, assembled 200 birthing kits to assist births in Africa, provided wheelchairs for those lacking mobility in developing countries and providing funds to the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Nationally, we have been successful in providing funds for the Humour Doctors at The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital, buying ‘air space’ to enable The Royal Flying Doctors to continue their great work in helping sick outback patients to get to medical assistance, providing funds for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation and The Smith Family which assists children in domestic violence and helps disadvantaged Children receive and education respectively. In our local community we provided family “Street Swags” to destitute families, and collected and distributed Easter eggs to Clifford House, Ronald McDonald House and The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
