It is really hard to pinpoint where the true coming of age moment in The House on Mango Street is because there is so much happening and many important events to choose from. Esperanza had many moments, especially later on in the novel, where she would’ve been considered to have a coming of age moment. There were times when she was forgotten by her friends and felt betrayed from it, times where she was violated in a sexual manner, and there were times where she just learned from experience what was really going on in the world around her.
